In the summer of 2007, Thomas Maitz invited a group of parents and their kids to spend the weekend on an old farm in the Austrian Alps near Graz. With the goal of putting their ideas together while immersing themselves in nature, the group of architects, designers, businesspeople and psychologists discussed ideas about sustainability and the quality of life with their kids. What resulted was a vision and a distinct concept for a new kids’ furniture brand: Perludi. Stemming from the latin “per ludum” meaning “for playing”, Perludi is an eco-responsible, design-led furniture brand for children. Each piece is built by expert carpenters in Austria, Germany and Slovenia, using only sustainably sourced European birch, plywood and solid spruce wood. With children at the forefront of the design process, Perludi’s pieces are often modular and adjustable to allow for endless flexibility!
